2. What brought you here:
Destroyer is so different than your typical LA food scene. First off, it's tucked away in an un-assuming commercial park row of buildings in Culver City. Destroyer sets themselves apart from the crowd with the amount of detail they put into their dishes, from the fresh ingredients, plating, down to the very bowl they are serving it in. Possibly the most abstract and artful brunch or lunch you'll ever see in LA.
3. Ambience:
Minimal and serene. Everything in their space has a sense of calm and openness, which is apparent in their fully visible kitchen.
4. Our favorite dish ordered & why?
The organic hen egg with crispy potatoes and mushrooms. We appreciate that the techniques they use are advanced and have so much depth, yet it's light enough to want to eat this everyday.
5. What will we order next time?
Beef tartare. We have tried almost everything on their menu, but the beef tartare was sold out, leading to the allure of our curious palates.
Overall, we had a greater appreciation for ingredients after eating here. We learned that we shouldn’t be afraid to play with more unfamiliar herbs, even in something as simple as a brunch dish. It also made us way more interested in diversifying our cooking by exploring other types of grains. Destroyer, we will definitely be back for more!
