A First for Everything
Last July, we wanted to try our hand at something completely different. Although we have had praises from our cooking in the past from close friends and family, we were always curious about whether or not our cooking would appeal to the outside world. We had gone back and forth on the right time to try hosting a supper club (and I mean months and months of wondering). And like a lot of things in life, there’s no such thing as the “right” time.
We describe ourselves as mild-mannered professionals by day, and super culinary creatives by night. We all work full time, 9 to 5 jobs, so literally, finding the time is one obstacle alone in making this a reality. But when you have a passion for something, one thing we have learned from this process, is that you must make it a priority. This first supper club was a true testament to that.
We invited 2 friends and their friends of friends, ( i.e., random people who have never tried our food before) over for a 5 course meal to finally test recipes that have been nothing but ideas for so long. We can’t even begin to describe how incredibly pleased we were with how everything turned out. There is nothing like the adrenaline of preparing a meal that you’ve poured your passion into every detail, hoping that random people will relate to every bite that you’ve envisioned them experiencing, 5 times over for each course.
Sharing this experience was incredibly meaningful to us, and knowing that people, even outsiders, really enjoyed everything from start to finish validated that taking this risk was worth it. This first supper club tested us in ways we never had before, but hands down, one of the most rewarding, and fun experiences to date.
